“Do NSAIDs (OTC Pain Relievers) Help You Get Better Quicker?” Ask Dr. Tim Henderson, Sanger Texas Chiropractor

Watch this short video for some useful and insightful information

Most of us are guilty of reaching for the Ibuprofen or Aspirin or other over the counter pain reliever when we’ve overdone it a little.  Me included.  Yes, I have been guilty of it myself.  The fact is that while NSAIDs may help you feel better in the short-term, they may be causing you bigger problems down the road.

Some good alternatives to NSAIDs may be Boswellia, an herb used largely in India for pain management.  Tumeric and Ginger both have anti inflammatory activity.  Hot peppers and Cinnamon can help as well.  Tropical fruits such as pineapple and papaya have enzymes that help you heal faster.  And Fish, Flax and Evening Primrose oils can all help moderate inflammation.  All of these carry potential benefits but may not be right for everyone out there.  Depending on the situation, ice or heat may be enough to provide you with relief.

Ask me or consult with your health care or wellness professional to see what may work best for you.
